A breast enhancement or breast augmentation is really one procedure. And what it is is enhancing the patient's breast volume with an implant. There is saline implants and there's silicone gel implants, and they're both good implants. They both have their benefits, their advantages, and disadvantages.
But more and more, I have moved over to silicone gel implants. Silicone gel implants are very, very safe from a standpoint of the FDA and studying medical devices, breast implants are the most studied medical device. It took them off the market, silicone gel implants, for 15 years, and there's no association between silicone gel implants and any type of autoimmune or connective tissue diseases. And the reason I like silicone gel implants is because they feel more natural than the saline implants.
Breast augmentation procedure is my most common procedure. I've done 6,000 plus breasts augmentations in over 17 years. One of the things that I offer with my breast augmentations are rapid recovery, and it's not a gimmick. It's addressing three things and sticking to them, making sure you pick the right size implant for the patient that is not too big, that it fits her body, handling the tissue with care, no blood dissection, no bleeding.
And then the third thing is early motion of the patient's arms. My patients are moving their arms the day of surgery and not the next day. They start moving their arms above their head the day of surgery, about four or five hours afterward. I do a rapid recovery. And so, within the first day, patients are up and about moving. But anywhere from three to five days, kind of take it light. You know, and patients should do well after three to five days.
