Mommy makeover is a term that was coined a few years back to address a mommy's breasts and tummy. And it's usually, you know, most women after having children, their breasts change. They get either droopiness, they lose volume. And also, their abdomen changes. They get stretch marks or they get skin laxity.
But the mommy makeover is not a procedure. It's a combination of procedures to address the breasts and the tummy. A traditional mommy makeover addresses the breasts, either with a breast augmentation or a breast lift or a breast lift alone or a breast augmentation alone, and then a tummy tuck with liposuction. That's kind of the traditional mommy makeover. Maybe some liposuction of the waist also to address sculpting of the waist.
Another procedure similar to the mommy makeover that I do in my practice, I do a Latina mommy makeover. And so that takes it one step further. So, you know, I already said the mommy makeover addresses the breasts and the tummy. Well, the Latina mommy makeover addresses the buttock. So I do something to address the breasts, I do something to address the tummy, and I do something to address the buttock. If I'm doing all three procedures or addressing the breast, tummy, and buttock, it's probably about a good six-and-a-half, seven-and-a-half-hour surgery.
So the recovery from mommy makeover, you know, just the traditional mommy makeover, it shouldn't be double because you're addressing two areas. You know, anywhere from one to two weeks. And that doesn't mean one to two weeks of severe pain. If you're doing it following the basic principles of surgery, it just means, you know, it takes the body time to heal. So your patients are going to move a little bit slower for about one to two weeks.
